GIRLS ENTERING MEANINGFUL SERVICE
GEMS stands for Girls Entering Meaningful Service. The meaningful service here is the service to the Lord Jesus Christ and our fellow servants. There is work for each and every one in the kingdom of Christ. As females, we have specific work that we can do to further the cause of Jesus Christ. This camp is meant to teach girls what they can do and how to do it better.
This camp is the brainchild of a few “middle-aged” Christian women who have the desire to fulfill the Lord’s command for the older women to teach the younger women. We are looking forward to having an intensive week of Bible study coupled with practical applications in a spiritual atmosphere.
Please be aware that there are a limited number of spots available. Also, the camp is only for girls or young women aged 13-18 years old. We feel that girls of this age will be able to undergo the vigorous schedule that we have planned for them and will appreciate the efforts that are put forth by our completely volunteer staff.

We have assembled several very capable Bible teachers to guide the girls in a variety of classes for the week. All of our teachers, chaperons, cooks, and even ‘janitors’ are Christian women who will be excellent examples to the girls. (While the majority of the staff are women, there will be a few men around helping in the kitchen and with other clean up duties.) Please see the page “Sample Schedule/Topics” for an idea of what we have in store for the girls who attend the GEMS camp.
This year the GEMS camp is being held at the facilities of Rustic Youth Camp in Russellville, Alabama. (You will be notified in an acceptance letter of the directions to this site.) The fee for the camp is $135.00 per camper for the week. This covers the rental of the facilities, supplies, and three meals per day plus a “bedtime” snack.
All attendees at this camp will be expected to fully cooperate with the counselors and staff. Any disruptive behavior or lack of cooperation will result in immediate expulsion, but of course, we do not expect any such behavior.
DRESS CODE: All campers and staff are expected to dress modestly at ALL times while attending the GEMS camp. There are to be no shorts above the knee (when sitting), no tight fitting attire, no halters, tank tops, low cut blouses or shirts. NOTE: There may be some time for swimming in the lake during the afternoon recreation time. However, shirts and long shorts must be worn over swim suits.
